Prufrock Theatre
About Prufrock Theatre

"Till human voices wake us…”

      OUR MISSION

Prufrock Theatre seeks to bridge the gap between art and audience by creating meaningful, high quality theatrical productions that reflect the human experience. These productions are made available and accessible to people of all educational, economic, and cultural backgrounds.

“Do I dare

Disturb the universe?”

The company’s name is inspired by T.S. Eliot’s poem, “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock.”  The poem is largely about isolation and our desire to connect with other human beings.  J. Alfred Prufrock speaks for millions when he says

“I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.

I do not think that they will sing to me.”

Prufrock Theatre is founded on the importance of live theatre as a shared communal experience through which our lives may better be understood. The company exists to provide opportunities for all people to enjoy a theatre experience that is meaningful, relevant, and of the highest artistic quality. So,

“Let us go and make our visit…”

Also, be sure to check out our sister theatre, The Cromulent Shakespeare Company. Their mission is similar, though they specialize in classical texts.
