Since the theatre has developed new trends so did directing evolve into different styles. A certain director will have to adapt one specific style to match the theatre performance he/she will be directing. He can either be the dictator, negotiator, creative artist or confrontationalist. The dictator needs to assert his role in a strong manner by means of dominating the theatre. During rehearsals he most of the time controls everyone. The negotiator is a somewhat open-minded about the flow of the act and is open for the ideas and improvisations of the actors and the production team. Meanwhile, the creative artist works on knowing the inputs of the other individuals in the play but still decides on whether or not to use them. The confrontationalist will debate with the production team and actors when they give their ideas and he eventually comes up with the finished product.
