Unlike the other kinds of play, the tragedy is not meant to be funny. As the name suggests, it is geared towards sadness and often concludes with a sad note. It often focuses with a good person who in the end turns up with a bad hand and is pushed to have a bad fate. There are no happy endings in this kind of play. Instead, the play uses all kinds of emotions and uses heavy conflicts with lose—lose situation.

In a comedy, witty remarks, eccentric and unusual characters and weird happenings are essential. The director gets to decide the targeted age group which it will focus on.
